Currently, I am enjoying a Chef Boyardee Spaghetti and Meat Balls Microwavable cup, while also glaring at the television, watching "King of the Hill." What is the point in this, you may wonder. Well, I am out of plastic silverware and have no proper eating utensils, except for Two Plastic knives. That's right, I'm using plastic knives as chopsticks.
Anyway, one thing I'm starting to learn in life, and in my philosophy class, is that a person needs to have pleasure in their life. This is my pleasure, despite the fact I am fork-less.
Sunday, or this weekend in general, was on of the most pleasurable weekends I have ever had! For the record, I am not a "party girl." So no, I did not partake in drugs, alcohol, or sex. To make it clear, I'm a virgin until marriage, and I need brain cells for Nursing School.
Well, over the weekend I hanged out with friends and watched movies, but Sunday was extra Amazing! I woke up, went to church with my good friend, and later got to experience my other friend get baptized- IN A JACUZZI!
While she and twenty others underwent the magnificent ritual, I stood to the side next to an old man and his grandson. The most funny and adorable thing happened!
The baby looked me up and down with wide brown eyes, and held his arms out for me to hold him! The baby almost fell out of the grandfather's arms, because the baby was leaning forward to me.
I caught the baby boy and held him for a few minutes, then gave the baby back to the Grandfather. The grandfather proceeded to give the baby to his wife, the grandmother, yet the baby kept extending his arms toward me!
I have never felt so wanted before (insert laugh out loud here)!
The grandfather took to baby back again and tried to calm him down, but that baby was persistent. The grandfather said the sweetest thing, "You really want this pretty girl to hold you, don't you bud!"
It is times like these when I feel beautiful. I'm pretty sure a baby wanting you to hold him continually is the ultimate compliment, not like Friday night when a random guy asked me if I "like to party." Like I said, I don't party. But, even if I did I would not party with that guy or any random stranger for that matter.
Sunday continued on by working on my English blog and working on homework with friends that I have never spent long periods of time with before. We cracked jokes and caught a random lizard in the lobby.
This is pleasure to me.
There are two types of pleasure though, intrinsically and instrumentally. One can be content or happy.
Content is eating Cheetohs on a couch, doing absolutely nothing and watching Spongebob.
Happy is searching worth in your life, feeling beautiful, and spending time with those you care about!
Sure, right now I am content. Finishing off a bowl of spaghetti and watching television, but that is relaxation to me.
So, when your done reading this- eat spaghetti and use knives as chopsticks (not sharp ones though, plastic kind that can't hurt you).
You will find Pleasure, whether happy or content.
You will find it.
