The other day, my one friend who is non-Christian asked, what does that mean my religion is?
Having this discussion with two of my non-Christian friends helped me identify the fact that every religion has a relationship with whatever God(s) they worship.
The question that now stands out is, what makes Christianity different? What makes Christianity not just another religion, not just another relationship?!
What makes Christianity different, is that it is a unity. A unity, and a desire to be in our lives, not just being entertained on the outside.
God, Abba wants to be inside your heart, guiding and moving your soul to do His will.
Isaiah 49:15-16:
“Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she
feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were
possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the
palms of my hands.” (NLT)
From research I conducted, no other religion has a God that wants to be with us. No other religion has a God that Loves us to the point where if we sin, we will not be penalized for our actions when we truly give our lives to Him.
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life
through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NLT)
No other religion sets you free from the conduct of sin you commit by truly repenting your ways.
As well, by just identify Christianity as a "relationship," you forget the important fact that worshiping, praying, and glorifying God is church- it's makes your bond with Him a Religion.
By saying that Christianity is ONLY a relationship, you separate the Church that He built in you.
All of this is merely my opinion, so if this offends anyone- I apologize, that is not my intention.
However, look at the problem we are addressing when approaching other religions who feel just as strong as their religion as ours.
Next time you say "Christianity is a Relationship, Not a Religion" think about what you are saying. The meaning behind the words you advocate to try to introduce others to Him.
Have a blessed day,
<3 KM
