My job is a Waterer. I water plants in heat that may reach to as high as 100 degrees. So yes, I do sweat quite a lot and developed a bit of a tan. While many other college students seem to have amazing jobs or internships.
I have found this summer that my job is probably one of the best jobs I have ever had! One thing I love about my job is watering and trimming plants that may be dying, but hoping that the next day they are better or improve.
By giving the plants the essentials to thrive, they should be able to, right? Well, usually they don't. They may be contaminated with bugs, improperly watered, or receive too much sunlight.
I wonder if the hope of progress I have for plants is the same hope God has for us. God gives us the essentials to live and to thrive spiritually.
Jeremiah 17:8 states:
"He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the
stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green,
and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear
fruit.”
The summer job I have as a waterer truly is a blessing, I have been able to save enough money for the semester, as well may be able to transfer to a similar job at ECU.
But, I must say that this job has truly humbled me. Not every person I have has the opportunity to attend a great institution, has a loving supporting family, or a remarkable set of friends. I have surely met some great people at work who all have different backgrounds and really treat each other like a family.
Think about expereiences you have had that was unexpected. Did it serve positively in your life?
At the time, was it what you needed, not necessarily what you wanted?
I was hoping for a job as a CNA at a hospital, or some job that was in the health field. But, with the summer classes I have- any stressful job would not benefit me in no possible way. As well, the area I live at is very rural, so I would have to travel 45 minutes+ for those jobs compared to the five minute drive I have now.
1 Corinthians 3:6-9:
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who
plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his
wages according to his labor. For we are God's fellow workers. You are
God's field, God's building.
Remember, everything happens for a reason and has a perfectly timed season.
Have a blessed day,
<3KM
