For about twenty minutes, me and my baby sister were conversing about having a sixth toe. She just randomly asked me "If you had a sixth toe, would you have it removed or keep it and never tell anyone?" My little sister just turned fourteen three days ago as well, for the record.
The thought about having a sixth toe kind of made me think, would I keep it or have it removed. I mean God makes us perfect just the way we are, right? However, the normality of a sixth toe is up for debate.
This thought kind of got me thinking as well about the symbolism of a sixth toe to religion, I'm weird like that- I know. Well, if everyone around you had no religion, or even different beliefs, while you are just a Christian- would you remove your beliefs in God?
The norm thing, you would think, would just to give up God as if he was a sixth toe. Yet, God is not a sixth toe, he was the one who blessed you with that sixth toe.
I'm probably not making sense anymore, I am very tired right now writing this. But, I feel like I am making sense somewhere by saying just because everyone around is normal, doesn't mean you are not as well. Heck, you are very special if you have a sixth toe or have God in your life.
So, to answer the previous question, I would not give up my 6th toe. We are blessed with extra gifts and things to make a change in others lives, to help others know that every part of our being was created for a purpose (physically and internally).
I also was brought back to the idea of how everyone has different talents and make up different parts of the Body of Christ. Every part of that body is important, whether you're the left hand, an armpit, a femur, or a sixth toe. Just because you cannot sing very well, does not mean your skills in art are useless. Or, just because you can not pray elegantly does not mean your skills in preaching are unimportant.
I guess in the end, we should just be like what my sister said,
"Keep your 6th toe, even though everyone has 10. Just be like, well....I have 11."
Thanks for the reading!
