The Broiling of the Stew of Life

How many times as a child did you wait by your kitchen counter, asking your mother every five minutes, "Mom, are you done yet?" as she was cooking dinner.  Correspondingly, she would reply "In a few minutes."  And, when those few minutes finally came to an end and you received your dinner- you would always receive a hearty, delicious meal.

One thing I tend to be is impatient, mostly at stop lights while driving to and from town. However, I always have the urge to get things done on the spot, or the rest of the day I will be stressed over what needs to be accomplished.  Either, I tend to be impatient or I jump the gun on steady things and people.  For instance, I tend to rush people too much sometimes and scare people away, I would elaborate how but that would take too long.  As well, I always rush into conclusions very easily, but not necessarily judging someone.

I guess the one thing I need to learn to live by is to be more patient.  Instead of automatically assuming how people are or what they feel.  Actually, being patient is one of the qualities a Christian should have.

Kind of how we're still children waiting impatiently for a job promotion, that certain guy/ girl who you will marry, or for dinner.  God tells us to wait patiently because the hearty meal he is cooking is full of love, and he still needs to insert the right spices and herbs to perfect the stew!

If we don't wait patiently for that job promotion, our only raise may be by fifty cents.  If we don't wait for the right person, we will probably marry scum.  And, if we don't wait for dinner patiently, instead of receiving the finest cuisine- we will get Microwavable Mac and Cheese that tastes like cheesy rocks.

If we rush everything in our life- people, jobs, food, and so on; we often find that the "Stew of Life" we receive is not as delicious that we thought it would be.

In summary, I suppose I could say that the extra few minutes God is taking to brew up the Stew of our Life truly does matter!  Another thought is, the most important ingredient of the stew is God's love, shouldn't we wait with love as well as patiently?

Have a blessed day!
