Are promises never guaranteed to happen? Sometimes.
I remember one promise I asked God when I was around eleven was to make my life better each year. Middle school was hard, but each year in high school became progressively better than the next until this day. This year has been a rocky year so far with broken friendships, many hours of work, and issues with classes.
However, in a way I feel like all of these event are necessary this year. It's like Lindsay Lohan said in "Mean Girls" when she pushed Regina George in front of a bus, when you get bit by a snake- you need to suck all the poison out. Maybe God is sucking all the poison out of my life to bring along gardner snakes that won't poison you.
Or, He may be molding me into a hardworking, God-fearing woman.
God is the one being I know who keeps his promises, so I have faith that things will get better as time goes by this year. By ending friendships that have no value and finding balance between work and school, I will not become burnt out or stressed.
People change, work changes, life changes to the point where you may not recognize who you are or what you are doing anymore.
Good thing God never changes, He never changes so His promises will never fail.
"And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and
precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his
divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires."
-2nd Peter 1:4
Everything in our Life may fail, but God never does.
Have a blessed day,

Here's something to consider too (though not encouraging)... Did God really promise you that each year will be better or did you simply ask God to do that. How motivating is it to keep promises people ask us to make when it is not in our plan? God has made SO MANY promises through out the bible and even invites us to test them. the most common example is through our giving!
Malachi 3:10:
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."
Your outlook on how God is shaping you and making you more like Him is so true! Every loss has a gain. Every gain has a loss. When God causes a loss there is a WONDERFUL Gain, When God provides the gain, the loss will be just as awesome! (a sin, an illness, ect.) <3 Idea from another book I read "Gaining through Losing"
